I have worked on Movie Maker from Windows Live Essentials 11 for years and love the ease of it. So I was putting together a video and was trying to do something with a photo background and couldn't do it, so I googled how I could do it and came upon Windows Live Essentials 12. I thought what could it hurt to download it. It had to be better and maybe it would be able to do what I wanted to do...and it was free. So I did the download and the first download failed. So I tried again and it was a success, but when I tried to open Movie Maker in the new version it would not open. I didn't get a screenshot of exactly what the error was, but it was saying that it was not operating correctly or something like that. So I downloaded it again, and again, and again....and still the same thing. I couldn't figure out what the problem was after searching for answers, so the next day I thought I would do a restore. I went back 1 day in my history (before I did the Essentials 12 install) and figured it would pull up my old Essentials 11 version and I would just work with that again and not deal with a new download. The restore was a success, but when I went in to open Movie Maker it gave me the following error.
"One or more of the effects files that Movie Maker needs in order to run is corrupted. Please repair Movie Maker by clicking "uninstall a program" in Control Panel, and then double-clicking Then "Windows Live Essentials".
I couldn't find any downloads of Essential 11 as they have been removed and any help links I found in forums were no longer valid. So I did another restore, this time going back 3 days, just to make sure. I received the same error message. I tried again and then the 3rd time I was going to try, this 3 day restore was unavailable due to the limited reach of restores. So I tried the previous day again and same error. I am just trying to get the effects I need or whatever else may be the problem so I can work in my old version in Essentials 11.
Thanks for any advice and help!
