I have the latest version (2012) of Movie Maker installed on my Win 7 HP desktop. I have the latest Windows updates installed.

My problem with Movie Maker is in edit mode. Very often when I click on a frame to change what I am viewing, the program hangs for minutes at a time. Using Resource Manager, I can see that all 4 cpus (I have a quad system) are pegged at close to 100%. I change the replay factor to edit the movie faster, but the same hangs occur at all factors. The movies I am editing are .mpg files from my Canon camcorder. They are movies of wildlife. I tried to limit the length to one hour to see if that would solve the problem, but it doesn't.

When the cpu stops wrapping out, the program resumes normally, but as often as not, goes right back into 100% cpu when I click on Play or click on a different frame of the movie.

Help! Love Movie Maker for its capability, hate it because it's unusable due to the hangs.
