I am using Movie Maker (build 16.4.3508.0205) on a Windows 8.1 PC (64 bit, 8Gb RAM) trying to publish a movie made from MTS files. I have done this dozens of times on this PC with this version of Movie MAker, but now, all of a sudden, it no longer allows me to make movies of any significant length. When I try, the progress bar "hangs" several times when climbing towards 100% (freezes at 42%, for example, for a good 10 minutes while it normally takes 10 seconds per percentage point). When it gets to 99%, it fails saying that one of the clips is no longer part of the project (and a yellow, triangular warning sign appears over that clip).

If the project is small, it works fine, but the length of the movie I am trying to make is only 12 minutes. I've made movies in access of 45 minutes without a problem before on this PC with this version of Movie Maker. I'm exporting as a HD file WMV format (like I normally do).

I've already uninstalled, then re-installed Windows Live Essentials. Perhaps a recent Windows Update caused this? Any thoughts?
