Hello, I'm having a problem with Windows Movie Maker 2012 on a two month old computer. Movie Maker crashes whenever I try to add ANIMATIONS (transitions -- dissolves, wipes, etc.) to my video. First the program freezes and I get a message that "This is taking longer than expected, would you like to close Movie Maker?" and a few seconds later it says "Movie Maker had to shut down unexpectedly (Error 0xC9460025)".
So far, it appears this only happens when I try to add TRANSITIONS to my video. I thought maybe I had a corrupted file so I did a CLEAN UNINSTALL of Movie Maker 2012 FROM THE COMMAND LINE and then downloaded and reinstalled it, but it has the same problem.
Movie Maker 2012 seems to work OK UNTIL I ADD A TRANSITION. Then the program usually crashes. If I exit and restart Movie Maker, it can't load the project file after a TRANSITION was added and it crashes again. IT LOOKS LIKE ADDING TRANSITIONS RESULTS IN A CORRUPTED PROJECT. If I stay away from transitions, I can sometimes complete and save a project successfully and obtain a useable MP4 or WMV file. But I want to add transitions to my video!
NOTE: I CANNOT run MM 2011 or any other version of Movie Maker.
I'm running WINDOWS 8.1 ON AN HP LAPTOP WITH 2 GHZ AMD CPU, 4 GB RAM, 1T HARD DRIVE.
I am running THE LATEST VERSION OF MOVIE MAKER (2012) SO THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM.
MY VIDEO FILES ARE SUPPORTED BY MOVIE MAKER SINCE THEY PLAY AND SAVE JUST FINE.
MY CODECS ARE OK SINCE ALL THE VIDEOS PLAY JUST FINE. NO PROBLEMS THERE.
MY VIDEO CARD WORKS FINE AND I HAVE THE LATEST DRIVER. NO PROBLEM WITH VIDEO.
What is the problem with ANIMATIONS/TRANSITIONS? Why am I getting this error message? Is there a bug in Movie Maker 2012?
