I am a Senior Citizen and do not have formal computer training.  I learn from watching from my friend and writing everything in a book word per word.  Now I have a problem.  I bought a Samsung laptop from Best Buy with preinstalled Windows 8 and later I upgrade to Windows 8.1 for free.  About 6 months after purchase , while trying my hand at Windows 8 for the first time that was the time when Windows 8 first was launched I forgot my Password.  So I went back to Best Buy and they said cannot retrieve my Password and need to reinstall Windows 8.  After that I notice I cannot pin anything at all.  Is there any way for me to get back the PIN TO SART ICON. 

Apreciate anyone's help and please make it easy for me to follow your instructions .  Thank you in advance.
