Ron (and Firedog/Noel), I have a similar question and I think I understand your answer (am a bit unclear why/where JohnM333 is/was getting bogged down, but I also did not fully understand Noel's comment about passwords...).

I will shortly need to migrate my Windows Live Mail to a new computer.

My main question is whether the settings will move, too.

In the current computer it is WLMail 2011 (on Vista).

There are three accounts, one of which is POP3 and the other two are IMAP (one of which is linked to Outlook.com, the other to a 'private' email service).  All three have different log-ins.

I have some message rules for the POP3 account.

In addition there a number of local storage folders (created when I migrated out of Outlook Express).

On the new computer I propose to use WLMail 2012.  In preparation I have already installed that programme.

However, you state:

"You must put the Windows Live Mail store folder files on your computer before installing the program."

=> Does that mean I should uninstall WLMail 2012, copy the message store across and only then install WLMail 2012?

Will Settings be transferred?

Will Contacts be transferred, too, or do I have to export to CSV file and import into the new machine?

Presumably there is no need to do anything on the calendar, which will sync down from Outlook.com?

Thanks.
