Microsoft:

I have been using Windows Photo Gallery (formerly Windows Live Photo Gallery) since 2007 when I started using Vista.

I have always loved the native support for in-file metadata saving using the XMP standard instead of using a separate hard-to-manage library.

I enjoy that the app is still speedy on new and old computers alike.

However, you have released almost zero enhancements and new features since 2012.

No, I don't care that you throw in a few more social networks that you natively export too. Or that you can handle more cameras' RAW files. That's great, but where are the features like a new facial recognition engine? An in-app Mapping system - even if it is using Bing Maps instead of Google? I don't even care; I just want it in-app.

Both Apple and Google are releasing new versions - even if people do generally hate Apple's updates, at least Apple is trying new things.

You don't seem to be.

It's very disappointing. I have been hunting for a replacement - I've tried Adobe Lightroom and Picasa so far, but they're both lacking in terms of good video and picture tagging, even though they have much better mapping support.

Please Microsoft. Just release some feature updates and enhancement instead of just bugfixes and tiny tweaks. It's been 3 years. Get your photo devs off of Metro apps for awhile (yes, I will continue to call them Metro apps) and back on the desktop apps for keyboard and mouse.

Thank you for reading; I hope you'll find my tone, while dissatisfied, to be overall courteous and relatively polite.
