For a couple of months now I have trouble managing my IMAP mail within the WLM application. It used to work fine (for more than 3 years with this machine no problems), until maybe 4-5 months ago. Some automatically installed Windows update must have broken it, but I can't prove it and there are so many updates it's impossible to say which update first caused this.

In particular, moving mail messages from the Inbox to a dedicated mail folder (depending on the originator etc) doesn't work very well, most of the time.

If I move mails (by dragging them from Inbox to another folder) at first they seem to be gone but when I check the destination folder, the mails aren't there. And after some time they re-appear in the Inbox, either within the same session or after re-starting the WLM app.

Another common symptom that goes with this issue, is that WLM hangs upon exit.  A dialog then displays "Updating your changes... " with an option to [Cancel], this hangs indefinitely without making visible progress. I have to click [Cancel] to get out. When I next re-start WLM, all the mails that I last moved out of the inbox, are back.  Also message status such as "read", "flagged" and "replied-to" often gets lost/reset in this process.

Needless to say this is very annoying, as it makes it very hard to clean up my Inbox (yes, I _can_ move mails via my ISP's webmail interface, and using iOS mail on my phone; but those interfaces are not designed for bulk processing...).

Note: SOMETIMES, on a good day, moving mails _does_ work correctly... but mostly it doesn't).

Simply deleting mails from the Inbox (to the Deleted items) and emptying the Deleted Items and Spam folders always works fine.

I have Windows Live Mail running on Windows 7 Professional, x64 edition.

The version (from the About box) is Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308).

I have Googled this issue extensively over the past months, but so far have not seen any other posters with the same symptoms...

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Kristofer
