I am running windows 8.1 with live mail. When I receive a new email the notification icon in the bottom tray shows a new message (yellow). When I click on the new email message to preview it the icon does not change. It should change to a plain blue icon showing no unread messages but it stays with the yellow on top. If I double click the message and open it, then the icon changes to the blue (no new message) as it should, but it only does this if I open the message, not preview it. Even if I delete the message after previewing it (the inbox folder completely empty) it still shows with the yellow envelope. I have to fully open each message to clear the icon to blue, which opening every email I get is not the best idea to say the least.

I have been using Live Mail for years and it has always worked correctly until a couple of months ago when this started.

Very annoying because it basically shows I have new messages all the time, unless of course I open each message.

Anyone else having this issue or have a fix?

Thanks for listening,

Marty
