Quick update, i have found this windows app can convert AVCHD MTS files to standard MP4 without recoding the video, it's also fast. Just over 5 mins to convert a 4Gb MTS file.

After conversion, it seems to edit perfectly in Movie Maker.

Hi, I am having the exact same issue and have had for some time but now it is important I fix it. .

Only an issue with MTS files from my camcorder. Hi-def video from my iPhone works no problem.

Am using a computer that should not be having issues, Win 7 64 bit with a 7.6 WEI score and 20 gig of RAM.  

Do you have anything new to report? Your last post was a year ago and the only recent report I have found for this issue anywhere.
