Original Title: saving photos

1. Do I have to back up my picture files that I have in Windows Live photo gallery or are the safely saved somewhere online?

2. Is there some quick way to delete the duplicates in Windows Live photo gallery?  I have over 5000 photos and don't want to go thru them one by one.
