I added 19 different video clips into Movie Maker, totaling 14 gigs, and slowly they began to show a 1 frame preview in the timeline since I am entirely zoomed out. Near the end however, the loading seemed to stop and 2-3 of the clips remained grey. I went to the preview screen to check them out and the screen was entirely black, although I could hear the audio perfectly. I selected and deleted the greyed out clips and tried to add them back in, but they remained greyed out. What is even weirder is when I closed out Movie Maker and add the 19 clips again, the previews in the timeline will again begin to load but different clips, usually 2-3, will be greyed out and show nothing in the preview monitor. I have also tried publishing a video when some clips where greyed out. I put all 19 into the timeline and deleted all that weren't greyed out. I then published the 2 greyed out clips into an HDTV video file and played it with Windows Media Player. The video played with both video and audio with no problems.

I want to mention I have looked at other support topics and I have done the following:

-Run Microsoft Fix It. Fix it sound no issues or problems.

-Checked my codecs. The videos are encoded with Lagarith Lossless (LAGS). I have checked with Windows Media Player's available codecs and it recognizes the codec as well as plays all 19 clips with no problems.

-I have checked my video drivers and they are completely up to date.

One last thing I want to mention is that I have attempted to find a work around and I have noticed that the chance of a clip becoming greyed out and temporarily unusable seems to be drastically reduced when I zoom out on the timeline.

Is there a way to avoid blacking or greying out the preview monitor or timeline respectively without zooming out on the timeline?
