Had been using Windows Live with a service provider I no longer have access to. Have just set up a gmail account with a new service provider. Would like to be able to access the new gmail account from Windows since I'm familiar with Windows and want to be able to keep using my contacts and see earlier emails. Is this possible?

In case you didn't notice, I'm not at all tech savvy so will need explicit instructions on how to do this.
