I received an email from Microsoft requesting my hotmail information to include password, stating that my account would be closed in 48 hours if I don’t respond. Is this legitimate?

I received an email from Microsoft requesting my hotmail information to include password, stating that my account would be closed in 48 hours if I don't respond.  Is this legitimate?
