This morning I was using Windows Movie Maker perfectly. I've actually been using Windows Movie Maker for years with absolutely no problems. I had everything installed with the previous version, working perfectly [Photo Gallery, Movie Maker and Writer] and then I downloaded the latest version 16.4.3522.0110, tried to apply updates and the software package went to ****.

When I initially tried to update the update process crashed, throwing an error on updating Windows Movie Maker. I thought because Windows Movie Maker was already installed, perhaps I need to uninstall it. I uninstalled Windows Movie Maker and tried to reinstall; this was after a reboot. When I tried to reinstall; I got this error.

Thinking that the problem could be that I have to uninstall other Windows essential applications and then reinstall the whole package [Photo Gallery, Movie Maker and Writer]; I uninstalled those options as well.

But now, I can't install any Windows essentials applications. My PC Windows 7 Pro is about four weeks old— all system patches, updates and drivers are current. using direct X 11, .net is installed. While my PC is new, I was using Windows essentials applications just this morning, moviemaker and live writer.

I am installing Windows essentials from the standalone installer [ 135 MB]— I have also tried the web installer; no luck, does the same thing only slower. I'm not able to install any Windows essentials applications; everything crashes. I would really like to know how to get Windows essentials to install on my PC. I don't understand how it's a Microsoft operating system, it's Microsoft software, Microsoft installer, it's a Microsoft update and it doesn't work. Please advise.

Later, Larry
