I cannot sync hotmail messages that are older than 2 weeks on iphone 5, even with mail days to sync set to “No limit” and messages to view set to “1000 recent messages” ?

I called apple and they verified all my settings are ok. They advised me to contact Hotmail. Does hotmail not support syncing messages that are older than 2 weeks or what ?
