I'm using Win 10 and Live Mail using the Store folder on my computer, not the cloud. I had some internet connection problems and needed to boot to my 2nd boot HD which is Win 7. I opened Live mail, so I could receive and send some emails.

My inbox, Sent, Drafts, etc. were all empty. When I received mail it did go to my correct inbox. I found all my Inbox, Sent, etc. in Recovered items folders, but they all have " and < and all the attachments were stripped. When I rebooted back to Win 10, it's the same problem.

I do backup every night, so I have a copy of my original Store folder, so I copied it over, so I have the bad Store and new one as separate folders. I thought using the original Store in Win 10 would solve it, but it didn't. Maybe it's because I didn't include these 6 files that my backup can't backup while Live Mail is open.

It's 6 files like Mail.MSMessageStore, WindowsLiveMail.log, temp.edb, etc. I have devised a way of backing them up at boot up before Live Mail starts a macro copies those files to a separate folder, so another words I do have those files that correspond to the date of my backup copy of Live Mail. But I forgot to add those files to my copy of Store, so maybe that’s why it didn’t work right.

So before I try this again to regain all of my old files, I'm hoping I can get some tips and tricks on working with Store, so the same thing doesn't happen again. I do think I also have lots of duplicates in Store from the recovered items folders. So it'd be nice to clean up store and also get rid of the " and < from the emails. I still have the original Store copy in tact to use.

Any suggestions?
