As I understand your issue, you wanted to see if your emails and contacts would be lost, if changing internet providers. Let's see on what we could do to resolve this issue.

If your new internet provider provided you with a new email account, you will need to back up first your old emails from your previous email account and import it to the new email account.

I suggest that you create a backup of your email and contacts, you could follow the steps provided on this link. Once your done renaming the account or changing internet provider, then you could import it to your new account.

Please take not that most Internet Service Provider doesn't have a feature to rename your email account directly to another Internet Service Provider account.

This answer was really not helpful for my question.

My account is set up under a different provider than what I have now. My problem is

, Microsoft does not allow me to change that providers name, only my password. Why
