I just found a whole heap of old messages missing from my Inbox and other folders. I eventually found them in the Deleted folder but I did not put them there. I am assuming that something causes Outlook.com to move old messages to the Deleted folder, but I cannot find any information on what triggers this.  Is it done by date, or by reaching storage limit, or a combination of both, or any other reason?.
