My 11 HDV tapes of family were shot with a Sony HDR-HC1 camera in 16:9 aspect. My local camera repair store wanted more than $300 to repair that Sony camera but he said he had "special equipment" that could convert the HDV tapes to DVDs. I told him I wanted
the DVDs to record on my PC to do video editing and he said he would do that and have them ready in 4 days and he would call me. After a week with no call I visited him and he said his equipment was broken and he needed at least another week. About 10 days
later he called and I paid him for the DVDs, but when I played them on my computer they were in a 3:4 aspect. I called him and he said he couldn't understand why, because he had tested them before giving them to me. When I returned to his shop, he played the
DVDs on his DVD player in 3:4 aspect and then with an adjustment on his DVD player he could also play them in 16:9 aspect, and that was the way he had tested them in his shop. He had not played them on a PC. I have played the DVDs on two computers and my son's
laptop (All on Windows 10) and we only get 3:4 aspect to play. Is there some way to get these DVDs to record to my computer hard drive in the normal HDV aspect of 16:9? The camera repair store says the problem is with our computers, but other videos we have
shot in 16:9 aspect play normally on these same computers. Is there a solution, or must I require the camera repair store to record them on the DVDs in 16:9 aspect and make sure they will play on a PC like I requested? Thank you.
