Today I was working in Windows Live Mail like I do every day. Receiving and answering emails. Deleting emails. Moving received emails and replies into my "Saved items" folder under my primary email account. The same stuff I've done daily for years. I switched to another app to do something and left WLM running in the background. After a while I switched back and noticed all my "Flagged items" were gone. Then I saw the place where they were saved -- "Saved items" in my primary email account -- was gone. I closed WLM and reopened it thinking there was some glitch. Still no "Saved items". I went to the message store in %appdata% and saw that the "Saved items" folder under my primary email account was indeed gone. It wasn't in Recycle Bin. It couldn't be found with Recuva. IT SIMPLY WAS GONE.
What possibly could have caused this? I don't think I somehow moved my ten years of saved emails into "Deleted items". How else could such a thing have happened: a folder simply disappear from WLM while WLM was running? I am totally stumped but I don't want it to happen again. Fortunately I was able to roll back to an earlier version of my primary email folder in %appdata% from the same day and I think recovered everything.
