A few days ago I sent up a custom domain email and sent a test message from my personal email account using Outlook 2010. I did not add this new domain email anywhere online or tell anyone, yet I received spam to that domain email the very same day I set it up! How come?  This does not give me confidence in the security of my email address when I haven't even begun to use it!
