I'm still using Windows Live Mail 2012 to sync IMAP folders on Outlook.com. On Tuesday (9-26-17) I could no longer sync mail. WLM said I should download its folders again. Unfortunately, I reread ¡Firedog's article after deleting the account from WLM and now, after re-adding the account with the proper IMAP servers & ports, can't download its folders from Outlook.

¡Firedog's article says deleting an email account from WLM is irreversible. How can that be? I've archived all older emails to my pc. The only ones I don't have are still in Outlook's inbox. If they're still there, they're not "irreversibly" lost. Why can't I download them to my properly re-added account in WLM2012? When I try to, I get this error message (account & user name not shown):

User is authenticated but not connected.

Configuration:

Server: outlook.office365.com

Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): 1
Code: 800cccd3

What does "authenticated but not connected" mean? How can I download the IMAP folders that are still on Outlook? The new IMAP account has the correct incoming & outgoing IMAP & SMTP paths & ports:

Incoming:  outlook.office365.com

Port:  993

Outgoing:  smtp.live.com

Port:  587

Why can't I download Outlook's folders to WLM?
