How can I copy a file from DVD using Movie Maker then copy that file to another DVD?

Original title: Editing files with MS Movie Maker

 

Using MS movie Maker how can I copy a portion of a large file from a DVD disk?  Then how can I copy (extract) a portion of this file and copy this file onto another (blank) dvd disk as a standalone file???
