In 2012 I was asked to change my password and the next day my hotmail became inaccesseble.  I've contacted for a couple of days microsoft and given them all information I had (even those tha I only couold have) but they were not willing to assist nor to provide me with a new temporary password.  I was luckky that I had still 30 mails on my I phone so I created a new hotmail account and forwarded the messages from my phone to the new e mail address.  But I lost out on several opportunities and my contact addresses
