Google sent an email recently "Your account settings in one place at My Account".
It prompts you to review your settings.
One setting is called something like "Less Secure Apps". You have the choice to prevent less secure apps from accessing your Google account.
I thought this would be a good idea - I didn't want some fly-by-night downloaded 'app' to access my Google account. So I set it to restrict Less Secure Apps.
As soon as I did this, Live Mail (my Gmail is included as an account) prompted me for my Google password, and kept prompting me for my Google password. Meanwhile I get an email from Google saying that a 'less secure app' was trying to access my Google account.
So...I set Less Secure Apps back to not restrict and everything was back to normal.
Is Live Mail 2012 considered a security risk? Why? I wonder if the same is true for Outlook? ...from Google's perspective.
