How do I get Live Writer out of PDF mode? Maybe it should be HTML instead.

I have used Live Writer for writing blogs for several years. The last time I used it I must have inadvertently done something on the keyboard, as the blog I had written appeared with strange (to me) letters and symbols inter-spaced  with my text, and the pictures were not there.The file names of the picture files may have been there.  I posted the blog to the net and the result was what was intended.

Now I want to write some more blogs but when Live Writer is loaded, the screen does not have the line for the title, and text appears in a different format. I drag pictures into the appropriate p;lace but they will not appear.
