Will there ever be a version of Photo Gallery with the Modern UI?

I'm desperately looking for a touch friendly gallery with the same ease of use and feature set as Photo Gallery. I can't find any app that works with the way I manage my photos with tags, ratings, people etc. I have this shiny new Surface 3 but no good way of browsing and managing my photos in a touch environment.

Actually, I consider returning the device because at the moment it seems just not fit for productive (professional) use in the imaging area.
