Every time I run Windows Live Photo Gallery, a window pops up to ask me the same question,

Would you like to use Windows Live Photo Gallery to open these types of files?

JPG, TIF, ARW,…

Then I check the box opposite the line "Don’t show me this again for these file types.", then press Enter. Nothing changes, the next time I start this program, the same window pops up. I tried this a million times since the day I used Windows 7: it makes no difference whether I check said checkbox or not.
