Error message: [ALERT] Message too large. http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=8770, how do I get rid of it?

I have been receiving this Error message every day for three months.  It seems to be trying to resend an email that was too large about every two minutes!  Can anyone help me?  I have been searching for answers for a few hours.
