I retired and am now traveling the world for a couple of years. Just before I left 8 months ago I bought a laptop so I'm using Windows 10. I'm not in the least computer savvy, but someone showed me that I have Photo Gallery and Movie Maker on the laptop and how I can save photos to One Drive for friends to see easily which I've done for the past 6 months.
Now I'm getting the error message 0x800488E5.
I contacted Microsoft who asked me to send them my file which I did, but I haven't had a response in a while, but they did point me to this site and from what I can gather reading here, maybe I'll never hear from them again. By the way I stopped in at a Microsoft store in Berlin, Germany but the sales person didn't have Movie Maker installed on the computers and he didn't know how to use it so that was a dead end.
Not familiar with facebook (although I opened an account a long time ago and never used it) or u-tube or anything else, but I did try to follow along with questions and instructions here.
I've used 2.8 megs on One Drive, so I still have 2.2 left, so its not a memory problem
I followed the instructions and "repaired" Windows Essentials
I saved a trial project of only 4 pictures to my thumb drive and tried to publish that to One Drive. No luck.
Since I'm traveling, the only other computers I have access to are those in the hotels and they don't have Movie Maker. However, I only use the laptop for email, skype, movie maker and searching the web for my next travel location so I'm not so sure its a laptop problem anyway.
I didn't try a second Windows Essentials uninstall using CMD Line Parameter since that person then had hotmail email issues and I'm afraid to mess up my gmail emails. Again, I don't know much.
So bottom line, is this problem unsurmountable and I have to learn Facebook or figure out what a blog is to use as an alternative? If, as someone else posted, the error message on Movie Maker comes and goes, I don't want something that's unreliable. I just need something simple that will allow me to send home about 20 pictures at a time.
