Hello,
I'm trying to render a slideshow I did with some music into an mp4 or wmv file format. I do these generally once a year, and I have never had a problem until now. Typically, I use around 300-400 photos, and in this case, it was 399. All photos are from my camera, so they are .jpeg. All audio is in .wav format.
When I start up movie maker, I get an error message that states "sorry, movie maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements." My Geforce 840M video card is up to date, and the driver software is up to date, as is my Intel HD Graphics 4400. I also have an i7 processor with 4GB of ram, so I know I am well above the specs necessary to run Movie Maker.
After giving me the above error message (with no indication of any error in the error log), the program stays open and allows me to load the project file. I can watch the project in its entirety with no issues in Movie Maker, however when I go to export it to both wmv and mp4, the render will get to about 80-84% before it gives me another error message: "There are missing or unusable files in your movie maker project" - this time with a code: 0x887A0005. From the project playing perfectly fine before the export attempt, after the export attempt, there is one "rogue" file. Once I remove that, then everything else fails, and Movie Maker gives me another error message: "the GPU device instance has been suspended. Use the GetDeviceRemovedReason to determine the appropriate action" before giving me another error message: "the project has become corrupt. To revert to the last known version, click revert." I click revert, then Movie Maker stops responding, and will not reload.
Over the last two days or so, I tried this with at least 4 projects that I've done (three of which have been exported before successfully in the past), and they all do the same thing. It's not an issue with one project. Since my video card and Intel HD Graphics are both up to date, I know it can't be that. I have Windows 10. I've had Movie Maker on this laptop for nearly two years now, and I've been able to export with no issues in the past. But now it does not want to work. I have over 1TB of space left on my external which I'm trying to render to, 550GB on my internal (which I attempted to export to once thinking that it was my external drive). What is going on? Please help.
