I sent one testing email to my outlook.com account, which according to the mail server logs was accepted and queued for delivery:
Jul 23 20:09:05 sunmail01 postfix/cleanup[5542]: 137461E117: message-id=<*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>
Jul 23 20:09:05 sunmail01 postfix/qmgr[2823]: 137461E117: from=<*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>, size=1399, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Jul 23 20:09:06 sunmail01 postfix/smtp[5551]: 137461E117: to=<*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>, relay=mx4.hotmail.com[65.54.188.72]:25, delay=1.8, delays=0.07/0/0.47/1.3, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***> Queued mail for delivery)
This mail appeared neither in my inbox, nor in the junk folder and was apparently silently dropped in the background.
After having controlled all settings (mail filters, safe and blocked recipients) to rule out erros from my side. I then tried to add this account to the safe sender list, which in turn suddenly let the next email appear in my inbox. The logs looked exactly
the same as with the previous email, which removes any chance to detect any error or maybe unwanted behaviour / configuration:
Jul 23 20:10:18 sunmail01 postfix/cleanup[5542]: D4D2B1E117: message-id=<*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>
Jul 23 20:10:18 sunmail01 postfix/qmgr[2823]: D4D2B1E117: from=<*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>, size=1403, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Jul 23 20:10:21 sunmail01 postfix/smtp[5490]: D4D2B1E117: to=<*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>, relay=mx4.hotmail.com[65.54.188.110]:25, delay=2.7, delays=0.07/0/0.46/2.2, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***> Queued mail for delivery)
Sending with any other account on the same domain, from the same server and IP address, also just delivers fine into the inbox, which leads to the conclusion that it's not a configuration or tainted IP address problem (which is not possible to detect at
the moment, as Microsoft SNDS is also down for hours now).
How does this behaviour make sense in any way, and what options do i have left to get it fixed from my side?
Kind regards
Toby
