When I try to download the update for Adobe Flash Player I get a banner at the bottom of my screen saying "running scan" and it keeps running a long time so I quit the process.   This happens with most of my downloads and some take less time "scanning".  Is this part of Microsoft Security Essentials?  This is a desktop computer which is used almost every day but the "scanning" time on my laptop is not even noticeable.  What is wrong?
