On Dec. 12, 2015 I received an email from Outlook.com informing me that planned changes in the next few weeks would prevent delivery to "Windows Live Mail 2012 application you use." I was directed to install an update from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49486 to fix this but after downloading it and making the attempt I discovered that I could not use it because I did not have the program that was to be updated.
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium which I got with a new computer in January 2014. Turns out I'm using: Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308) of Windows Live Mail. Perhaps my vendor knew of a "categories" problem I've read about in the 2012 version but in any case my version has worked fine and I hate to mess around with things that do the job I want well. Incidentlly, Windows Update never offered me the 2012 version.
Will I be affected by the changes that will prevent Hotmail messages from getting to the 2012 version since I don't use that one? If so I need an easy way to get the required changes -- please don't tell me I have to first install the obsolete 2012 version and then update it!
I've heard that the Thunderbird email client is very nice and too much trouble with Windows Live Mail will probably find me investigating that option. I will be very grateful for any help you can offer to make this as simple as possible -- hopefully I don't have to do a thing!
