I have an HP desktop (about a month old) running Windows 8.1 When I powered-up today and logged into Windows, I got a message saying that a restart was necessary to 'repair the disk' because of an incorrect shut-down. Did that, went thru' a VERY long and convoluted process with several restarts etc before eventually the scan and repair was reported as complete. However...Window Live Mail is now screwed up :-(
When Live Mail opens it comes up with a message about a parser error. That is followed by a much longer message about 'Failed to initialise Shared Canvas' with details about an invalid character in the encoding etc. I can download messages OK, and read messages OK (both new downloaded messages and also those stored in local folders), but...it will NOT open 'New Message' to write one. Instead it merely comes up with another long error message about failure to initialise the Shared Canvas and the Passport Library already being intialised etc.
I have tried to take screens shots of the messages or copy them, but have been unable to do that.
Is there anyway to get Live Mail 'repaired' please short of re-loading it all from scratch? And if I have to do that, what happens to all my existing accounts, rules, local folders etc?
Help please!
