I am working with WLM 2011 and using an IMAP server.  Occasionally, I create new folders or rename or delete old folders.  When I use WLM to reset my folders (Accounts | IMAP Folders | Reset list), I usually lose my inbox in WLM.  I have been using the procedure below to recover the inbox (suggested on this forum) but this is time-consuming and often it doesn't work.  Does anyone have a better solution?

Solution:-

  1. Make sure you are connected to the internet and ideally have a broadband connection as you are about to download all the messages currently held on your Hotmail account.
  2. Check your Hotmail account to see that it has all the folders and sub-folders that seem to be missing in Windows Live Mail.
  3. Back in Windows Live Mail (WLM), at the top left is a little mail icon (just to the left of the Home tab). Click on the down arrow, select Options  and Email Accounts.  Select (HIghlight) the account that you have the problem with and click on Remove then Close. That account has now been removed from WLM.
  4. Go to the little mail icon again and choose Options and Email Accounts  and this time select Add  at the right hand side Selcet Account Type>Email Account>Next and then in Add your email accounts  add the details asked for and check whether or not to make this account the default. Click Next.
  5.  Now you should have your account back in the left hand side of the WLM program. Click on the Home tab, click on the down arrow next to Send/Receive  and hit Update All  to sychronize the program with your account.
Now all the folders and sub-folders should be showing.
