If you are using POP account, please check if you have the set the leaving a copy of the email on the server. To check, please follow these steps:

1. Click on mail account in Windows Live Mail.

2. Go to Properties and then choose Server and then Delivery

If the settings are ‘should not be set to delete email from the server’ then there should still be a copy of the email available on the server.

Note: The steps above only applies to POP accounts sychronized in Windows Live Mail that are not Microsoft accounts.

·   For IMAP, if you delete an email it's gone.

·   For Hotmail account, please check this article: Recovering Deleted Emails from your Hotmail Inbox.

All deleted emails are stored in the email account's 'Deleted' folders’ for a short period of time for all three types of accounts mentioned above. Check if these folders contain any of the deleted emails.

- In Windows Live Mial >Email account>Deleted Items
- In Explorer, %USERPROFILE%Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Mail<Email account name>Deleted Items

If email is no longer available on server itself, low chance of that mail being recovered.

'Storage folders' Deleted Items only contains items deleted from WLM’s user created folders. If WLM is functioning properly and the deleted messages are not present in the email account's ‘Deleted Items’ folder or not archived elsewhere in WLM or the user's hard drive they are most likely gone

As a suggestion, you can request the sender to re-send the email if possible.

When I click on properties, there is no drop-down menu from which to  choose Server and then Delivery.   Nothing I delete shows up in my Deleted folder.
