I have a bizarre situation. I have 125GB of Skydrive storage. My HD partition was smaller than that, so I decided to go to selective sync and "unsync" a large folder with 25GB data so that I would be able to upload some videos and pictures. My understanding this should simply only remove the local version, providing me with additional space, but keep the cloud version intact.
After this, I copied the pictures and videos etc to the reclaimed space in my local skydrive folder. After a few days I noticed skydrive stopped syncing. And a few days a later I also noticed it crashed every time I opened it. At that point I decided to uninstall and reinstall the latest version (I use windows 7 x64). After the reinstall I setup my account and as I was going through the selective sync options I noticed that my folder with 25GB data is no longer listed on Skydrive. I went online and double checked, yep it was gone.
This obviously in itself a major issue and I do not know what caused it. But it is not the end of the world for me, because I had a spare copy somewhere else (thank you Dropbox). My problem right now is cloud Skydrive thinks that space is occupied because it shows me only 9GB space available. And of course I can't upload my the backup I have to Skydrive.
I have 96GB on my local HD and everything is synced. The difference between 125GB and 96 is roughly equivalent to the size of the folder deleted.
I appreciate if someone can shed some light on this. How am I going to reclaim that space?
Best,
M
