I posted this on the Windows 8 Phone section and they said to ask it here instead:

I just read that imap accounts are now supported by Outlook.com. My situation: I got (with AT&T store help) my Cox.net email set up so that it is downloading fine. I was told that I also had to have a Microsoft account. I already had one, but forgot the name and address. When I sign into Outlook.com now, I see that my 'alias' is my Cox.net email address. But the name of the account is simply 'Hotmail'. There is no reference in the setup to imap-mail.outlook.com or smtp-mail.outlook.com which are settings I read about yesterday in a PC World post.  I use Outlook 365. I want to sync contacts and calendar. I already have 'People' but it seems to be coming not from my Cox/Outlook 365 account but from the list I peopled Hotmail with a long time ago because it did not pick up a recent entry. I don't see an option on the phone to sync Outlook contacts and calendar.  I am told by you people that I give too much info to answer questions but I simply can't make a logical connection among all this stuff. Should I change a) my Cox.net settings to imap-mail.outlook.com where it asks for 'server' or b) should this info be put into Outlook.com 'Hotmail' account (alias ******.Cox.net)? If I make the Outlook.com connection in either of those ways, will I have the option to sync contacts and calendar? Also - since I first started putting together this post yesterday, new options have popped up on my Nokia 925 settings which seem to say that I have an option to set up another Outlook.com account. I a frankly afraid to do anything because I am so confused - will probably end up returning the phone to factory defaults again...
