Original title: Consolidate photos

When I import my photos from camera I get a long list of dated photos.  I want to consolidate into folders for each year.  I need to know how to put all my 2011 photos into a folder named "2011". I searched through photo gallery but cannot find the solution to my problem. You young people probably have no trouble at all.
