I'd like to close my hotmail account. I had a Office 365 subscription but I've cancelled it. There is no billing associated with the account. A year or 2 ago, I saw that there were microsoft points but I don't have those either. Somehow just signing up for Xbox free trial and/or office 365 ensures that you can never delete your hotmail account? The account only gets spam and junk email and I'd like to  close it.

I've contacted microsoft support and they say I have to cancel my billing but how can I cancel something that I've already cancelled OR doesn't exist?

Can someone please help ?
