I have started using Office for Mac 2011, 14.5.5, about 1 week ago.  When I run it, I notice my battery power drains much faster compared to NOT RUNNING Mac for Office.  I have a MacBook Pro which can run for about 10 hours on battery when using Apple Mail, Pages, etc. But with Office for Mac, I get only about 5 hours.

MS Tech Support replied that Office for Mac is a big program so it needs more battery power.  Are there options to conserve battery power?

When creating Contact Lists in Outlook 2011 or 2016 for Mac the groups are local to the machine and not saved. When doing it on the web portal the list doesn't show up when creating an email, and the only way to access it is to start at the People list, and generate an email from the record. And it doesn't show up in my phone contacts. So its not particularly useful to even have it-not sure what the point is. But what I'd like to have is a group of contacts that I can easily select for email and modify as needed. Other services do provide this, so its definitely feasible. But maybe I'm misunderstanding how to implement it.

And if I'm not, well, that needs fixing.

No, that does not work.

I am using a MAC with Outlook 2011 against the new outlook.com (preview) version that is like an exchange server.  I have two MAC computers that starting failing to send a message to my outlook.com account. Both are fully upgraded and patched as of 9/13/2015.

The error is "Invalid MIME content." and the message is moved to my drafts folder with Error Code - 19789

Again this is on two systems. I deleted all contacts from the outlook account. And I still the same error on both systems.

This is something on the server side and most likely because of the migration from the old "outlook.com" to the new (preview) version of "outlook.com".

Need help with this.

OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite

MS Office 2011

18 Gb Memory

Recently applied the 14.5.4 MS Office for Mac Update and should not have.

For the first time:

Getting beachball. When creating messages getting slow-to-catch up typing.

Using Activity Monitor, I can see wild swings up to 90 percent of CPU.

My inboxes hold only a few messages, deleted items are few.

I've compacted and rebuilt database.

I have many saved messages but only "On My Computer," however.

But....when I select, "Work Offline," and even create a message offline, CPU drops to 1.9% and stays there.

Is this the only way to control out-of-control Outlook 2011?

I need to know how to shut down the new, incessant "calling home" that Outlook is now doing, screwing up my Mac Pro. There must be settings somewhere and I can't believe I'm alone with this problem.

I had Outlook 2011 activated.  Out of nowhere it said that the identity needed to be rebuilt.  I did this and when I started it up again all my emails contacts where gone.

I look in the identities folders and the latest one I see if from 2013.  I can't find anything recent.  I tried to open one of the older identities and it comes up in gray not letting me access it.

Does anyone know how can I recover my files?

Thanks.

I have recently installed Outlook and I have setup my IMAP email account. After it finished downloading all of my emails and I've imported my calendar from iCal, things were fine. A couple of restarts later, my account disappears from Outlook as well as all of my email and calendar entries.

I was able to rebuild the account (Opt+Click on Outlook) and recover the missing items. After this, I exported everything from the account in case it happened again. Another restart and everything was missing again just as before. I checked to see if I could rebuild like I did before, and there was one thing listed (Identity 1). I tried rebuilding that and there was nothing recovered from it.

I'm currently importing the backup I mentioned earlier. My question is how can I prevent Outlook from deleting everything? I'm using Outlook 14.5.4. This is not an Exchange account.

So, I posted this in one suggested place, and I'm sending it again.

I will send an email, and it will go through, I will send another one, and i will get

i get Invalid MIME content Error Code -19789

There is no HTML on the email, there's nothing attached.  even sent in regular text won't send.

No one apparently knows what that code means...

I've now have my emails outlook.com set up as an exchange email as well as IMAP, so when I send an email, if it won't be send via the exchange email, I can change it to the IMAP.... just have to keep looking in both folders for replies.

annoying.
