Silly me I did the El Capitan 'upgrade' without checking into the potential problems.

OK, so I use the Microsoft applications on my MacBook.

I would have expected Microsoft to address this better than they seem to have.

Plus, this is just taking time away from all the work I have to do with my 'day job' not babysitting a computer.

I have a perpetual rotating beach ball that never stops.  Outlook is not working.  Please someone come up with a patch to fix this.  This is the first disappointment I've had with my iMac.  All upgrades (except the upgrade to El Capitan) have been seamless and worked great.  I don't care whose problem this is, but I pray that you can put your heads together (Apple / Microsoft) and come up with a fix.

Thank you.

How soon can we expect a fix? It's not like Microsoft didn't know El Capitain was coming...

When I am working in office 2011 for mac in any programme: word, excel even outlook when emails are being downloaded from my server. Outlook freezes stopping me from typing anything.

Why does it do this, why can't it download and allow me to work?

At times I have to stop work for over 30 minutes to allow outlook to download 10 - 15 emails.

Stupid! I may have to cancel my subscription due to this bug.

I have been using Outlook for Mac 2011 (version 14.4.5) OK for years.

I have changed no setting in my email accounts.

Suddenly, yesterday afternoon, I started to get the error message:

"Authentication failed because Outlook doesn't support any of the available authentication methods." Error code: 17897

... when attempting to send emails.

I can receive emails OK, but I can't send.

I have checked my settings with my Service Provider and they have confirmed that they are correct. I've just set up another email client (Apple Mail) using the same settings and that works OK.

My service provider says they can't help any further because it's a software problem with Outlook.

I have been through all the steps on the Microsoft Help Page here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2492901

... and none of them resolved the issue.

Can you help?

Thanks, Glynis

I've been using outlook for Windows for more than 10 years and recently change for Mac and wanted to keep working with Outlook. I've been having lots of troubles with this version:

1- one account from Gmail is constantly failing to log to the server, in other devices are perfectly working therefore is not a server problem.

2-Constantly looses the password fro Gmail

3- It doesn't inform that the sender requested receipt of reading and don't  ask if i want to send the receipt that i've reed the email

4- There is no option of sending with receipt of reading

5- When writing an email, there are no copy formation to apply from one location to the other

6- when i'm writing it constantly changes the font color.

7- I can't include the signature automatically when open an email to send, and have to include each time

8- the distance between paragraphs on the signatures varies without any special reason, some times is ok and others spreads the paragraphs

9- i lost folders from the original pst file exported from Windows

10- i cannot export an pst file from Mac.

This is really annoying and disappointing, and unproductive for my work. I'll most likely give up using this version.

I have just upgraded to El Capitan today and i cannot use my Outlook 2011. This is incredibly frustrating as this is my work MacBook and i cannot read or send any emails and the program crashes as soon as it is opened. the only thing that i can see is the spinning wheel and i have to force quit as the program is not responding.

When will this be fixed????
