I just ran an Office weekly update on my Macbook Pro. After the update was completed, none of my Office programs will open. I am running Office 2011 for Mac. I have tried running the Database Utility, but it will not launch either. Would appreciate any help you can offer.

Cannot find a way to disable the Microsoft Error Reporting; further, my problem is that Outlook freezes all the time, and I have to force it to close, and then restart. Have downloaded the 14.5.6 update of Office 2011, but this refuses to install, as it claims it cannot find Office on the disk in question (the main HD). Any bright ideas? I would rather avoid going back to the precious OS.

We were all updated to Yosemite over the weekend.

Before this I was able to GET INFO on a file/image, copy the server info, go into Outlook, hit Hyperlink, paste the path in there and the link would be clickable to the other user and would take them right to that file.

Now in Yosemite, the exact same procedure just take them to the folder its in and also places a new server icon on the desktop. Completely useless now.

I posted this on the Apple forum but they suggested I posted here.

Thanks.

I´m desperate, I worked all night in a very important document for today, and it´s not working, when I open the documents has numbers and characters and it cant be read. It happened to me before, that I lost documents, and I couldn't even save them. Since I update my mac to OS X El Capitan I´m having a lot of problems. What can I do? lost of this hours of work? please some one to help out there? Please help!

For the past few days I am unable to reply or delete emails without a pop up window stating "Outlook needs to quit due to an error." Very frustrating...is anybody else having this problem and how did you resolve it?

Thanks!

Recently, when my Mac's date & time switched back an hour for auto daylight savings adjustment while Outlook was open and online, duplicate messages started appearing in Outlook.  These duplicates are not sync'd with the IMAP server, however, and appear to be an internal glitch where a 2nd instance of the message is displayed but not actually permanently created.  So what will happen is that a duplicate will randomly appear if the time is changed while the app is open (working either online or offline) and after deleting or moving the message, the copy lingers for a while and then just disappears as if it were moved manually. It happens in the Inbox very frequently now, where usually a few messages will have duplicates displayed.  If i look at the webmail server, those duplicates are not there.

This has happened before with other folders, such as the Sent folder, if i changed the time manually.  The only way it seemed i could resolve it was to create a new folder, move all the messages from the Sent folder into the new folder, delete the old folder and then rename the new folder "Sent".  This is obviously very glitchy.  I don't know how to fix the problem with the Inbox though b/c i'm not able to create a new Inbox folder and the "repair folder" option didn't work.

Deleting and recreating the account is not something i want to do as this resets all my custom folder column settings, which is a major problem... unless there is a way to migrate these to the new account after redownloading all the messages again from the server.

I just did a full restore from Time Machine using a date from a few days ago and after my iMac rebooted I attempted to open my Outlook which is part of the Office for Mac 2011 program. I am now getting the following message:

"Your Office database index is missing and needs to be rebuilt. This is usually caused by restoring an identity with Time Machine". When I click on "rebuild" in the window that appears the Microsoft Database Utility and that program finishes running I now have a message that says, "your database could not be rebuilt. [-18000]"

I finally was forced to delete my old identity and establish a new one just to open Outlook but all my email, email folders, contacts and calendar information from my old identity are now missing. How do I retrieve all of my contacts, emails and folders that are in Outlook for Mac and were backed up in Time Machine? Isn't there a way to find this information from my Time Machine backups and import them into Outlook?

Hi Robert,

An update went out on 10/7/15, and this should solve your Outlook 2011 issue. For details, check out https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3098229.

Thanks!

Anneliese

Anneliese,

When I try to run the update my Outlook 2011 version 14.3.9  I just get an error message saying the software needed to install the update can't be found. Hence, no upgrade is possible. I also see that many others have the same problem, so why don't you answer??

Lars

Outlook will not open even after AppleCare talked me through re-installing Windows for Mac Office, having tried to go back to an old saved identity).

Excel, Powerpoint and Word all open without a problem. How do I idenitify what is preventing Outlook from opening. ( have all my Contacts and Calendar appointments in Outlook so not able to readily access them).

Applecare says this is a Microsoft issue.....

Everything worked fine until about ten days ago....
