I have read countless posts and I've tried a number of suggestions I found that may be relevant but I'm starting to throw in the towel.  Here is my situation.  I have a 2010 iMac desktop which is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. and I have Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 (version 14.5.9) installed on it and use this for my work email.  Due to the nature of my work, I must have records of client emails so retaining these is very important.  My email account through GoDaddy.com was setup as a POP account.

One day a couple of months ago, I was happily using my Outlook for Mac and it crashed.  I somehow got it to run again, but I am unable to receive emails.  When I hit Send/Receive it crashes again.  So I have just been working "offline" to be able to view old emails and just use GoDaddy's webmail online to send/receive new mail.  The weird thing is, I am able to send emails still using Outlook if I go "online," hit send, and then quickly go back offline.  I tried to backup (i.e. export) and rebuild, but it crashes every time.  I get error message 18000.  I realize this is usually a memory issue however each folder is under 2GB and I have 300GB (out of 500GB) memory available.

Due to these issues, I decided to upgrade to Office 365 through GoDaddy and installed everything on my new MacBook Air laptop.  I would really like to get my old emails off of my desktop and install the new Outlook for Mac 2016 on my desktop and begin using that.  I'm just not sure how to get my old emails and very scared about losing years worth of client emails.  Perhaps the files are just too big and it's better to keep them separate from my new Outlook?  I do use Time Capsule nightly and do have one for the night before my computer crashed.  I'm also unsure if I need to upgrade my OS to something like Yosemite.

I really appreciate any advice.  I've spent full days trying to fix this and at my wits end. Thanks all and Happy New Year!

Hi folks!  Happy Holidays!

I have set up a client side rule to set a category if a message is sent only to me.  When this condition exists, I set the category to "Only To Me".  The rule works just fine except when someone sends a message with an attachment.  If this case, I can watch the message briefly get set correctly to "Only To Me" but then it immediately clears.

Any ideas?

I'm running Outlook for MAC 2011 - version 14.5.9 on a MacBook Air running Yosemite 10.10.5.  This is the only rule I have set.  There are no server side rules.

First, how do I know when I receive an answer?  I am not tech savvy--pleas respond in layman's terms.

First, what is the difference between Outlook in Office and Outlook Hotmail, which I have?

Second, I have a Mac, OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).  Yesterday, Apple restored my OS.  I can access my contacts through Safari, but they are blank with Firefox.

Also, a big yellow O appeared on my dock, to upgrade the Office database, which I would prefrer not to do now.  There was also something about rebuilding Outlook, which sounds like a complicated maze and a lengthy process.  Do I really need to do this--what happens if I don't?

I am using Macbook pro with latest Elcapitan OS. and Microsoft office for Mac 2011, outlook version 14.5.9 (151119) for mails.

Other non mac users also use outlook for email exchange (windows based OS users)

My font settings in outlook are : Calibre 16 for both in HTML message (proportional) and plain text messages (fixed with).

Other preferences used are "while replying or forwarding use format of original message"

My question is "while sending the mails from outlook to other non mac users with microsoft windows based, few users receive emails with font size less than 6 size". we have checked their mail setting for font etc. and found similar to other users. However they receive mails in very small font from me"

pl. help to resolve this issue

Folks:

When I setup permissions to share my Outlook Calendar and set a Busy/available, meaning the other sharer cannot see what the scheduled appointment is, the blocked out time does not show in the sharer's calendar. So my boss want to share his/her calendar with me, but only show busy or not busy. Using my Mac and Outlook 2016, I cannot see any of my boss' appointments. Further, when I start off sharing Full Details, then remove them to Busy/Available, then all the appointments disappear from the person trying to share the calendar. To restore, I have to reset the person to Full Details and have them delete and re-add me to their calendar.

Are there any solutions in Office 2016 for the Mac or Office 365 for the Mac?

This happened out of nowhere. Responded to email (successful) and 2 hours later this error message "authentication failed (#5.7.1)" appeared. Then "authorization failed" followed when next email sent and since unable to send or receive. This is second time this has happened. Running ElCapitan with Outlook 14.5.9. "authentication failed (#5.7.1)

I have a Macbook Pro late 2011 with El Capitan.  I've had MS Office 2011.  Outlook connects to a live.com account and a gmail account.

I recently needed to do a clean restore of the OS.  Now I'm putting back the data and program files, which I have on Time Machine.  This is what I THINK I need to do, and if someone can help fill in the blanks, I'd appreciate it.

1) Download the current version of MS Office from Microsoft.com using the Product Key I have.

2) Run the program using all defaults.

3) Using Time Machine, restore the Main Identity over the newly installed one?

4) Allow Outlook to synch with the servers ?  (How.)

Does this look right?  Am I missing something?
