I have a 2 gmail accounts configured as IMAP on outlook.

Each time I receive an email on these accounts, it will appear as UNREAD for a short while, then, after a couple of syncs, it will turn to READ, even if I do not read it, hover over it, click on it, etc...

I thought that could be a sync problem with my iphone (the same accounts are also configured as IMAP on my iphone) so I switched off the iphone. Same problem
I thought that could be a sync problem with the web interface of gmail so I logged off my accounts on my firefox web browser and exited the browser. Same problem.

I have no other device that connects to my gmail accounts neither in pop nor IMAP.

I have a third email account configured on outlook as pop, and this one works perfectly.

The problem happens on outlook for mac 2011 version 14.3.5 and 14.3.6 (just updated outlook to that version).

I am on MAC OS 10.6.8

This has been happening since I decided to use IMAP for my gmail accounts (I was using pop before).

It is very annoying as I regularly miss time critical emails.

Anyone who can point me to a solution or a work around will have my eternal gratitude!!

THanks :)

Hi,

I recently bought MacBook Air (MBA) with intel's 4th gen processor. I've been trying to configure my vij******** Email address is removed for privacy *** id in both OFFICE 2011 FOR MAC and MAIL (MBA's own software) but am unable to configure it as exchange.

I've tried all options shares in this forum and other websites. most people suggested to use POP3 settings but with that I can configure my CONTACTS and CALENDARs. my entire office contact & calendar is present in that live id.

plus that id is also synced with my windows 8 phone (nokia lumia 920).

so is there a way I can config it???

thanks.

In Outlook 2011 for Mac, there is an annoying but/lack of full-feature that was fixed in Outlook 2010 at release. Conversation view/email conversations are very annoying as they do not work as they should, it seems to ONLY group by Subject so if someone emails me with the subject "Hey" I see a conversation with 100+ emails going back years and years all from different emails/senders/TOTALLY unrelated. Outlook is supposed to be 'smarter than this' (their words not mine) as they stated when this was brought up years ago in Outlook 2010 Technical Preview, it was having the SAME problem even though they stated it shouldn't, until they finally got it fixed and patched, now in 2013 (and I think it was fixed in 2010 post-launch) it works flawlessly - of course, that's all the PC Versions. For Mac, it still seems to be SOL as the conversation logic needs dramatic help, this is crazy that it only seems to go by subject, you can see the post on 2010 from way back below:

Please fix this logic in 2011 for Mac or at least release 2013 for mac soon, stupid that such a simple yet MAJOR logic upgrade was completely skipped in 2011 for Mac. If anyone knows any solid work-arounds, would appreciate it.
After downloading Office for Mac:2011 update version 14.3.6, my Outlook will no longer open.  Just brief flash of logo and then nothing.
I was forced to join OutLook a while ago and it does not let me open my mail anymore. Tried every thing I could think of but nothing was working. I need help folks.
I'm running the following:

Outlook 2011 client on a Mac
Outlook 2010 client on a PC

Both clients sync to the same Exchange account (v. 2010)

On the PC everything works fine.

If I delete a message on the PC, it deletes from the Mac.

If I move a message on the PC, it moves on the Mac.

I can send email and receive email, no problem on the Mac and the PC.

But when I move or delete a message on the Mac, it does NOT move or delete on the PC.

This behavior seems to have started after recent Exchange Server upgrade to v. 2010.

Any insight would be appreciated.

While I am in the application Outlook 2011 on my Mac, my computer crashes when deleting from the Deleted Items Trash Can.

Dear all,

I have a very odd problem with a Mac Pro early 2008 model running mountain lion 10.8.4 (12E55). On our network there are other newer macs (imac and macbook pro) running the same software version  of mountain lion that do not experience the same problem. My machine is a clean install, picking up our network setting by DHCP (as with the working machines). It appears to be the same in every aspect of the network config as the working machines.

The problem:

Outlook 2011 can't access the autoconfigure and manual config fails to communicate with our exchange server (2010 SP1 >rollup 4) and gives the error code -18597. This is because outlook cant access the server correctly. The exchange testing tools passes without a problem (https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com)  when run on this machine, however when I navigate (with any browser) to https://mail.mydomain/ews/exchange.asmx I get a 403 error and no popup login screen. On all of the other macs the login appears, which indicates that the mac is talking to exchange correctly. This also happens if I run a vm with windows on, indicating that it's not a browser issue.

I have had my ip address changed (using the second ethernet) just to check that it wasn't something on IT's firewall for my normal IP address, this made no difference.. and I have also used the same physical network port as a 'working' mac, just to make sure that it wasn't something on the switch that I am on.

I am now totally stuck as to what the problem might be, as it appears to be specific to my mac, rather than a generic problem with macs talking to the exchange server. However, I can't see how this can be the case, unless the exchange server can discriminate between my mac and other macs in some way- it's clearly not an ip address problem as two different ip addresses (one in the 'mac' range on our network and one in the 'pc' range) show the same problem.

Has anyone any ideas??

Thanks in advance..

When trying to create a clean-up rule in Outlook, I set as the criterion "days since receipt".  I specified 5 years which is about 1825 days.  I noticed as I entered the value that a comma was inserted after the one.  The action for the rule was delete.  When I applied the rule (fortunately to a folder I did not care about, all items moved to Deleted.  It turns out that when the rule is saved, the comma and all subsequent digits are removed leaving the number of days as "1".  I experimented for a while with the rule editor.  The comma is always inserted and it cannot be deleted.  Saving the rule always truncates at the comma.  Counts less than 1000 have no problem.  Are there any others who've seen this?  Know any workarounds?  The behavior seems undesirable.
