why is it that my office for mac 2011, does not open outlook? all other program does open. Can anybody help me?

I cannot 'send' Emails from MS Outlook.  I receive them but can't reply or send original Emails.  This is the error message I received today Nov. 1/13.

The server for account "Gmail" returned the error "5.7.8 http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=14257 s14sm17599944oeo.1 - gsmtp." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

I just recently noticed that in Outlook 2011 that when I'm replying/forwarding certain emails that if I type a word that has a "comma", and the word SENDS,with the comma, that the sender then receives it with the comma changed with a subscript 1..

Example: I'm writing "See Cort's note below".. I hit send, it goes.. And then in my sent mail it says "See Cort¹s note below." and that's how they receive the email.

I've just recently noticed this and it doesn't happen every time.. Looks like when I'm forwarding emails, but again, it doesn't happen all the time..I just recently bought a new macbook that is now running Maverick, and since then I've noticed this happening.

Any comments on how to make this stop? It looks super unprofessional as I'm using this for work.

I have tried rebuilding the database and cleaning caches, but no difference.
Any ideas?
I am changing from windows to mac - moving outlook - how to set import rules?
or - where are the rules stored in Windows, and I will move them to the appropriate folder in mac folders. yes?
thanks!
I have an email in my inbox.  If I scroll through the inbox view I can see it.  But if I click in the Search This Folder window, and key in "from:term-goes-here", without the quotation marks and with a part of the email address I'm seeking in place of term-goes-here, Outlook doesn't find the email entry.  This should be stone simple - I have an email with the from address being "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***", enter the search term as "from"claudia" and Outlook can't find it.
I have a mac computer when i tried to open outlook i received this information " microsoft outlook must be closed because an error ocurren. any unsaved may be lost.

Outlook 2011 for Mac
OSX 10.9
(also problem on older versions for OS)

In Tasks:
I have a long list of tasks, both flagged e-mails and tasks.
Browsing through the list:
After about 10-30 seconds, suddenly without warning: The curser jumbs to the very first task.
How to solve this?
Makes it pretty hard to use the Tasks functions.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

I tried to send a large attachment the other day, and I have been unable to receive email since.  I can send email, and I can receive using a second account on the same server.  I use an exchange server, and I can access my email on the web, so I know it is not the server.  I believe I deleted the "sent" mail since there is nothing in the Outbox (which had to be brought up by going offline first, then sending a test email).  I have gone through numerous steps: checked settings with ISP, deleted outgoing mail, using Applescript to delete Outbox items, setting up a new identity.  Nothing is working.  I need some help to figure out how to receive my emails.  Thanks.

Hi

I set up my email to use IMAP for Outlook.com on Outlook 2011 for Mac. All has been working fine but since yesterday I keep getting the following error whilst trying to check my email

MAIL COULD NOT BE RECEIVED AT THIS TIME

The server for account xxxxxxx returned the error

Error 8: Server Error. Please try again later. Your

username/password or security settings may be

incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your

password?

The strange thing is it will connect to my deleted items or one of the folders I have set up in Outlook.com occasionally and sync them fine, but the majority of the folders won't sync and I get the above error. The fact it connects at all I assume means my username & password are correct.

I can't find any reference to this error code elsewhere so I've no idea how to correct this. I am not sure whether its my settings which are wrong (however, it has been working previously and nothing has changed) or its an Outlook.com error.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Marcus
