I am having an issue with Outlook 2011 for Mac failing to start. It is running the latest version 14.6.3 on Mac OS 10.10.5 and every time I try to launch it, it throws up an error message saying "Outlook failed to launch. Unknown error" and then after closing the error message Outlook just drops out.

I have tried rebuild the identity which didn't work, removed preference files, tried creating a new identity, tried starting in safe mode and none of it has worked. I'm beginning to feel the only option left is to uninstall and re-install which I'd rather not do if I can get away with it, but as the error message is completely useless as it doesn't give you any idea of what is causing the problem. I'm sure that if this was on a Windows PC then I could run a repair Office and have the issue fixed but as MS would rather have you running Office on a Windows PC than a Mac they haven't added in many of the actual useful features in Office of Mac such as the ability to repair the installation. Has anyone else seen this issue and found a resolution that doesn't involve a re-install. If not then it looks like I'll be having an unpaid late night to get this software re-installed.

mac, outlook email 2011, email cannot be moved from inbox and sent items. deleting can be done by copying following to script editor and running. please share your thoughts.

tell application "Microsoft Outlook"

set theMessages to the selection

permanently delete theMessages

end tell

I use an intricate category system for keeping my inbox organized, but every so often, I will open Outlook and all my category assignments will be gone from the messages I categorized. The categories themselves still exist in my "Edit Categories" window, but they no longer are attached to any of my e-mails. This has happened numerous times since I began using Outlook from Office 2011, and there is no rhyme or reason to what happens, and I can't seem to get them back so I always have to go through and redo all the categorization.

If someone would please advise, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi -

I am using a Mac (OS X Yosemite - version 10.10.5).  I use Microsoft Outlook for Mac for email and my primary email address is a hotmail account.

I can normally send and receive my hotmail emails through outlook, but sometimes when I log on to different wi-fi networks (all private, password protected wi-fi networks, not free public networks), my emails do not send through outlook.  This happens on some wi-fi networks and not others and I can't seem to figure out why, even thought I have not changed the settings.

I have recently moved and am using a new wi-fi and I cannot send emails through outlook.

My incoming server is imap-mail.outlook.com and my outgoing server is smtp-mail.outlook.com.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this issue?

Thank you,

I have all Mac computers at home.  I have all Android mobile devices, on which I am using Outlook.  I've read that Outlook on the mobile devices will support syncing tasks, IF you have an exchange account.  Is it possible to even get an Exchange account outside of a corporate environment, i.e., at home?

-Thanks

I had a couple of folders I made and had moved emails into them to save.

They were there yesterday - went into email today - their gone?

The Outlook hotmail account on my desk top Mac worked fine until two days ago. Now I can send messages but no incoming messages are being received. The error message states that the username or password are incorrect.

I am receiving messages on my iphone and ipad so it must be something wrong with the desk top.

Any suggestions?
