Hi, I have to send quite a few emails containing one or two photos to different addresses for a charity I help out. I decided to set up and use Outlook for this as I usually use Apple Mail, but it embeds jpegs in the email which means that I have to zip any files to send to PCs.

I thought this would be an easier way of doing it, but have just found out that although all of the emails have sent with attachments, no one can download or open the attachments!

Having investigated further it seems that even my email signature which contains a png comes up to be downloaded and again won't download.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this?

Thanks

Hi,

I have an annoying problem I would be grateful if someone could solve.

I run Outlook 2011 for Mac (14.4.4) which is synced towards Microsoft Exchange online. Everything works well except when there are attached files in incoming emails.  Sometimes it can take up to hours before an attached file is available (the email as such is available immediately), however luckily it is mostly done within 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile the notification bar switch between "Awaiting synchronisation for this folder" and "Downloading attached files...". There is no actual difference between larger and smaller files and there is also no problem sending emails with attached files, they are sent immediately.

I have tested in different locations with good connections to rule out unstable internet connection without success.

Thanks for any help with this issue!

Over time I seem to always get problems with the databases of Outlook (have it on several machines, and I am fighting one at present).

I once heard that it is not such good idea to rebuild the Database as a regular routine.  Can anybody comment on this?  I am considering setting up a schedule to rebuild lets say once a month, to avoid corruptions and headaches in the future.

thanks.

Looking to archive mails in an easy way.  Does anybody know of any reviews, or better have personal experience with:

Outlook Mac Archive Tool

or

oeax?

Love to hear, thanks.

Latest version of Outlook 2011

Only POP accounts

OS 10.9.3

I have massive problems with Outlook 2011.  It bombs when I try to throw certain files away, is slow and has some other quirks.

I first tried to rebuild the database.  Result, I got over 150 'Untitled' folders and many of the ones that should be there are not.  So hours of work to sort this one if stuff did not get lost...

I tried exporting the data but this fails and it wants to rebuild.

I tried Diana's tip here that helped in other cases, but no cigar.  It too creates endless 'Untitled' folders, and behaves funny.  One thing it does sometimes it goes in to a loop of wanting to rebuild every time I start it. etc.

Any tips to solve this anybody?

Is it a option (I hate to think I need to do it this way) to copy all the emails in the different Outlook folders to disk (drag and drop) and copy them back in to a new identity (drag and drop)?  Anybody tried that?  Succes?

I hope there is some wisdom out there that solves his.  Thanks.

My computer is MacBook Pro Late 2011 Mavericks v10.9.5

Some days ago I created an item but not sent it. I waited untill the next day and saw doubl saved item under the Drafts Folder.

I opened one of them, edit it and push the "send" button. The other item (1 item 1 unread in the status bar) got empty on the preview pane

but I could not delete it...  Although I rebuilt the "main identity" nothing has changed.

Can anybody help me to solve the problem of deleting any item in drafts folder?

Please see the images...

Actually I have also another question (perphaps it has relation with the first question):

Some times, when I open the Outlook from the dock for the first time (i.e. after reboot the computer or after quitng applicatio)2 (two) separate windows are opening and I am closing one of them to continue my work. I couldn't find the reason.

When I use Outlook 2011 on OSX 10.9.4 it shows on all my desktops (F3).  I don't want Outlook on all the desktops, I only need it and want it on one.  I've not been able to find where I can set it so Outlook doesn't stay persisentent on all desktops, but limits itself to the one I put it on.

Has anyone been able to solve this problem?

Hello,

I discovered a TLS bug with Outlook 2011 14.4.4 under certain circumstainces with some IMAP servers. When the particular IMAP server has no regular SSL support but only TLS 1.0  on port 143 enabled,  Outlook 2011 is unable to authentificate with the IMAP server.

For example here's a welcome message of a IMAP server which only accepts a login via TLS on port 143. There are no other SSL ports like 993 available on this server, only STARTTLS is allowed.

* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE STARTTLS LOGINDISABLED] imapd ready.

Settings in Outlok 2011 are:

(x) IMAP

(x) "Dismiss standard port", i did enter 143 as port (tried also without this option, no change)

(x) "Enable SSL for connection (Suggested)"  (tried with and without, no change)

Wireshark reveals the following:

.7.................@.....
...................yo=E.....H."* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE STARTTLS LOGINDISABLED] imapd ready.
.7... BAD Error in IMAP command received by server.

The IMAP server DEFINITELY correctly configured to accept connections via Port 143 with TLS/STARTTLS. It's working with all other Mail Clients including Apple's Mail on OSx, as well as the built-in Mailclient in iOS.

The bug does not seem to affect SMTP connections and authentification,  somehow SMTP with TLS is working without issues with Outlook 2011 14.4.4.

Thanks

Dominic

I have long flights where I like to do work, but unfortunately MS office for my Mac does not download attachments as it does on my Windoews version.  Can anyone advise how to change that setting so that all attachments are downloaded.  I have a MacBook air and latest OS.
Sometimes when I'm responding to a group email, I push the "reply" button to create a new email, start working on it, and then decide that I really want to reply to ALL of the original recipients. Is there a way in Outlook 2011 to change an email response from "Reply" to "Reply All" after its been created? Entourage had a feature where you were prompted to change the response to "Reply All," and Apple Mail has that feature, too. Now, I have to copy all of the text in the mail so far, delete the email, start a new response using the "Reply All" button, and then paste the text into the new response email, or manually cut and paste all of the other recipients of the original email into my response. Neither are very elegant or simple. Is there another way?
